LPNU and NTU Summer School 2024

At NTU, we bring brilliant minds together to address today’s complex issues. ‘Connecting Globally’ is at the heart of our strategy, and our teams work with an international network of partners to conduct world-class research, tackling key challenges affecting business, industry, and society. We are also focused on addressing the challenges of the future.

The dual award Master of Psychology and MSc in Mental Health, Trauma, and Psychological Wellbeing between Nottingham Trent University (NTU) and Lviv Polytechnic National University (LPNU) held its first summer school in Lublin, Poland.

NTU’s dual award project lead, Dr Gareth Williams, course leader, Dr Danai Serfioti, and teaching team members, Dr Glenn Williams and Dr Filipa Calado, welcomed students to the event.

LPNU academics, Dr Lidia Oryshchyn-Buzhdyhan, Dr Maria Klymenko, Yevgenia Kostiuchenko, and Professor Irina Sniadanko, Head of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Psychology, also joined the summer school to offer their insights for the course.

The summer school, held in early September 2024, marked the transition between the LPNU and NTU courses. Besides providing opportunities for networking and team building, the summer school covered planning research projects, exploring online resources, future aspirations, and transferrable skills.

The summer school also featured early findings from an ongoing study led by Dr Danai Serfioti: “The Systematic Use of Critical Reflection in Adverse versus Safe Learning Environments.”

Professor Iryna Sniadanko commented, “This summer school helps bring about a closer partnership for our psychology students and academics across both universities. Through events such as these, our students benefit from the guidance and insight of the teams at NTU and LPNU.”

Associate Professor Gareth Williams added, “This summer school helps to prepare the dual award LPNU students for the next part of the course. It provides an enriched learning experience through in-person teaching with LPNU and NTU academics.”

The dual award is a funded project from the Cormack Consulting and Universities UK #TwinforHope initiative. NTU signed a Memorandum of Understanding with LPNU in December 2022, as part of the #TwinForHope initiative following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

It has been an amazing experience to study like I would at a British university. This summer school allowed me to approach things, including the learning process, in a completely different way. I can tell the teaching staff have put so much passion and dedication into this programme, and it has inspired me to dive deeper into studying psychology.
