Professional Development Opportunities
We work with colleagues from educational settings to develop bespoke professional development packages that meet the requirements of their setting. These courses are usually run over a day and can be based either at the setting or at NTU.

Flexible part-time courses
We offer a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate part-time flexible courses for those working in an educational context who wish to develop their: subject knowledge; policy and practice understanding; research skills; educational support skills; leadership skills and/or teaching skills.
|National Award, Special Educational Needs Coordination - Part time|
This statutory national award, in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Council, will develop professional attributes, improve knowledge, skills and understanding to enable practitioners to carry out their SENCO role effectively.
With five compulsory days attendance, and support it is ideal to fit in with a busy lifestyle.
Entry requirements: QTS, or QTLS. You also must be one of the following:
|Foundation degree, Education: Policy and Practice - Part time|
This two-year, part-time foundation degree is designed for people already employed in educational roles and draws on the knowledge and experience gained through this employment. It is specifically intended to meet the needs and interests of those who want to combine employment with further learning to enhance their future career.
|BA (Hons) Education Policy and Practice - Part time|
This one-year, part-time course is specifically designed to enable practitioners with an education related foundation degree or similar qualifications to gain full graduate status.
It will equip practitioners with the skills and knowledge to gain a greater understanding and critical analysis of education.
|Forest Schools Teaching - Short course|
Forest Schools qualifications provide the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to run Forest School activities, enabling children to experience the world beyond the classroom as an essential part of their learning and personal development.
This course is run over several days, during this time you’ll explore the different and novel ways of teaching and learning, including learning in nature and education practices in the UK.
