I have returned to education after a long break and this course has given me a strong knowledge base to progress into HE with confidence.
More about Imogen
Why did you choose to study your course at Brackenhurst?
I came to an open day and was impressed with the facilities at Brackenhurst. I also hope to continue my education here and live close enough to commute in.
Tell us more about your course. What do you enjoy studying the most?
Biology. I have particularly enjoyed the practical laboratory sessions using microscopes.
What do you think about the facilities available on your course and what do you use the most?
There are a good range of well maintained facilities on the course. The animal unit is the most used along with the library. I particularly liked how many of the library resources were available online.
What do you think about Brackenhurst Campus? What do you get up to in your spare time?
I made use of the orangery and refectory between classes however did not really get involved in any of the social or volunteering opportunities.
What is your top tip for someone considering studying at Brackenhurst Campus?
Wear comfortable shoes, depending on your timetable there can be a bit of a walk between teaching spaces. And if you are based at the animal unit bring your own food as there are limited options to buy any down there.
Why would you recommend your course to someone considering studying it?
The content feels relevant to higher education (HE) studies in the land based sector and the teaching staff are helpful and supportive.
What are your plans for after the course and how do you feel your course has/ will help you to achieve that goal?
I plan to study Veterinary Nursing at NTU. I have returned to education after a long break and this course has given me a strong knowledge base to progress into HE with confidence.
Any additional comments?
Encouragement from the course leader to socialise and support each other within our class from day one has helped to build a group that wants to help each other succeed. Also, the knowledge that there is additional support available on site from initiatives like the student mentors give a great way of asking for help without always having to approach teaching staff.
