More about Al-Marshed

What is it about NTU that made you want to study here?

“I found out that NTU is one of the best universities for international students. Also, Nottingham is a nice city that I visited before applying, which made me want to study here.”

What do you enjoy most about your course at NTU?

“I enjoy the variety of topics on the course such as drawing, model making, and site visits.”

Have you been involved in any live projects or briefs?

“Yes, we were involved in a competition based here in Nottingham to design a pavilion in dead areas. It was interesting to go through a competition and gain the experience.”

What do you think about the course staff?

“All the course staff are friendly – you can ask the tutors for help any time you want, and the technical staff in the workshop are really helpful too when you need any assistance with your model or have any enquiries.”

How do you find the facilities on offer at NTU?

“They are great; you can get access to mostly everything you need such as laser cutters and any workshop tools.”

In a nutshell, why would you recommend your course / NTU to someone looking to study in BArch (Hons) Architecture?

“I’d recommend it because of the tutors who are friendly and willing to help students. Also, you can use the studio spaces every day, even on the weekends. The workshop is great when it comes to model making - architecture students use this a lot of during the course.”

What advice would you give to prospective international students who are considering applying for this course?

“I would say that it is not the easiest course, you’ll spend a lot of time designing and studying during most weekdays. However, the work is interesting and there’s a lot of fun when you produce architectural models.”

What skills have you gained and how will these skills enhance your employability for your chosen career?

“I gained many skills over the past three years at NTU, such as using different computer software, drawing and model making. I think this will help me with my career in the future as an architecture graduate.”

How was your experience at Nottingham Trent International College (NTIC), and how do you think it helped to prepare you for your course at NTU?

“It was a great experience and it helped me a lot, especially in my first year at NTU when it came to writing essays and developing my design processes. It puts you in a better position as it gets you used to academic life.”
