More about Joseph

What made you choose NTU and your course?

NTU offers one of the best Real Estate programs in the UK and is highly accredited for it. I was also attracted by the awards NTU has received, such as best award for student life and the international category for how well it supports international students.

Tell us about your background and what you studied prior to continuing into postgraduate studies?

I did my undergraduate in Kenya at Daystar University where I pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a focus on Public Relations. Around this time my passion was always to work in the Government as well as political affairs.

After finishing my degree I did an internship at The Nairobi City County Government and would occasionally go to the planning office of the county. It was there my interest in Real Estate started and why I decided to pursue a masters in the field.

Why did you want to study in the UK?

The UK is considered the best place to study Real Estate and I knew studying here would give me leverage. Aside from that I am conversant in English, and knew coming to the UK would help me brush up my English dialect in terms of speaking.

Have you been involved in any live projects or industry placements on your course?

Yes, we undertook a project called the Dubai Relocation project. Despite it being a class project, it gave us a practical situation and exposure to what it's like working in the field. The whole experience drove my desire to work in the profession further.

Does the “real” NTU match what you’d imagined?

NTU has matched and surpassed my expectations. The student life is very diverse, and everyone is open with each other, which gives us an opportunity to learn from one another. The institution offers top of the line infrastructure that makes it accommodating for studying, as well as faculty staff who are always open to helping students.

How is NTU for international students?

NTU caters well for its international students and has clubs and societies that help you settle in. The university has a global lounge that allows students to interact with one another and get immersed in different cultures.

How would you promote NTU to potential students in 10 words or fewer?

Go the NTU way, trust me you will love it.

Looking ahead to the future, what's next for you after NTU?

My aspirations after NTU are to explore job prospects in the Valuation field as well as the investment field. I’m also looking forward to exploring more regions in the United Kingdom to get a feel of each city.
