What made you choose to study at NTU?
“I looked at various courses around the county but after looking at NTU it became clear that the course here was the best available. The tutors have good industry contacts and there is the opportunity to get valuable work experience and make contacts within the industry.”

What have you enjoyed most about your course so far?
“Everyone here is just as passionate about films and television as I am. I have met so many like-minded people who make the studio days so much fun! I also appreciate the opportunity to look back in time at the contextual history of film and be able to learn about the past as we start to design for the future.”

Has the course included any guest speakers?
“In our first few weeks we had an Emmy Award-winning lighting designer come in and talk to us about his work. He was very enthusiastic and happy to share his knowledge with us all. Learning about other aspects of the industry helped us to comprehend more of what is needed from us. We can learn to design with consideration for all the other departments who will be working with our sets.”

How do you find the course staff?
“The tutors are often available for guidance, and throughout each project we have group tutorials to hear peer suggestions and learn from each other.”

How do you find the facilities?
“The library is a great space to work in, and there are so many resources available to borrow or browse. The Students’ Union is a very inviting place to visit in between classes and at the end of the day.  Since most of my course mates live in different accommodation, the Students’ Union provides a relaxing place to sit and chat.”Have you joined any societies?“I have joined the film society and the Christian Union. Both offer me the opportunity to meet new people outside of my halls and course.”
