I'd definitely recommend this course to people with an interest in fashion, who have a creative mind but don't necessarily feel confident in design.

More about Danielle

What do you enjoy most about Fashion Management at NTU?
"Fashion Management at NTU has a really good reputation within the fashion industry as it covers a wide range of relevant topics and includes a placement year. This is seen as vital to ensure students have good work experience prior to starting a job in their preferred area upon graduation.

"In terms of content, the final year has been my favourite as we have had a lot of freedom in terms of the direction of our work and have been able to utilise all the information we have gathered through the first few years and placement in our academic work."

What do you think about the course staff?
"The lecturers have been very supportive throughout the whole course. In particular, we received a lot of support in Year Two including help searching for placement roles, filling out application forms and preparing for interviews and assessment days. The support from our personal tutors during our final year whilst carrying out our dissertation research was also great."

What do you like about studying and living in Nottingham?
"Nottingham is a great city to be a student in. My course was based at on the City site which meant everything was so convenient. I found everything very cheap in Nottingham (such as rent and transport) and the nightlife is amazing too, with somewhere different to go every night of the week!"

Tell us about your placement year
"The Placement Office at NTU was so helpful when we were all looking for placements for our sandwich year and many of the students found their jobs through the placement portal, including myself. I worked at Monsoon Accessorize in the technical department for my placement year which was very enjoyable and I gained a lot of knowledge and experience in the area of technical product development for accessories. I have recently been offered a similar role at a luxury lifestyle brand and am sure that I would not have received such an exciting job opportunity without my previous experience from my placement year."

Would you recommend your course?
"I would definitely recommend this course to people with a keen interest in fashion, who have a creative mind but don't necessarily feel confident in design. Fashion Management includes a broad range modules such as Marketing, Product Technology, Buying and Merchandising which means you are able to gain a lot of knowledge about different areas in the fashion and retail industry.

"This is great for people who know they want to work in this industry but are unsure about which role they would suit, particularly as you have the opportunity to carry out a placement year which gives you a huge insight into working in the fashion industry after graduation."
