More about Jaye

What made you choose to study at NTU?
"After attending the offer-holder open day I was impressed by the modern, vibrant campus. It was great to hear from current students who told me about their amazing placement experiences at companies such as ASOS, Wrangler and River Island."

What do you enjoy most about Fashion Management?
"I really enjoy the variety of what we are taught as it opens up lots of different career paths for us in the future. It really doesn't matter if you are unsure whether you want to be a buyer or go into marketing."

Has the course included any industry competitions?
"In Year One there was a competition with John Lewis. We had to create a press release about their new Kin brand. I actually won this competition and won a week long work placement in the Nottingham John Lewis store for visual merchandising and marketing. This was an amazing experience which taught me a lot about the way different brands operate."

Has the course included any speakers from industry?
"I really enjoyed the digital marketing talk by Wrangler's Digital Marketing Manager, Gautier Robial. He came over from Belgium and gave a really interesting talk about the difference between digital and non-digital marketing."

"A senior merchandiser from Sainsbury's also came in and led an interactive seminar where we acted out real life situations that a merchandiser would encounter during garment deals. This was really informative and helped identify the key points a merchandiser would have to think about whilst communicating with suppliers."

What do you think about the facilities available to you?
"I love NTU because I can really see where my tuition fees are going! The University continually reinvests in all its campuses. The City site has recently benefited from a new library area, gym and Students' Union. I really feel like there is so much on offer here and in comparison to other universities, NTU beats them hands down!"

What do you like about studying and living in Nottingham?
"Nottingham is a low cost place to live in comparison to other university cities. The nightlife is amazing with something to suit everyone; from vintage fairs and live music events to clubs and cocktail bars. I am in Year Three and still have not discovered everything that Nottingham has to offer."

Have you completed any placements?
"Other than the John Lewis placement I mentioned earlier, I also completed a two week placement at ASOS with the merchandising team. This was a dream come true and during my time here I got to create best and worst seller analysis, attend a buyers selection meeting, and upload products to the website. It was an amazing experience and I am hoping to go back there in the future!

"For my placement year I was lucky enough to get a job at Wrangler in Belgium. My manager was amazing and would constantly give me opportunities to learn, grow and manage my own projects. I helped organise and attended fashion shoots and assisted creating the seasonal trade material."
