What made you choose to study at NTU?
“I chose to study at NTU because Nottingham is a beautiful city and the University has great equipment and friendly staff.”
Has the course included any live projects?
“In a group of three I completed a tile project for Johnsons Tiles in Year One. We were tasked to design a new range of tiles that Johnsons could produce and sell. This was a very interesting project because we could run wild and create whatever we liked, as long as the design was suitable for tiles.
“I am currently working on a project for Denby Pottery, where I am in a group of four. We have been asked to design and make prototypes of packaging or tableware that would suit their brand.”
How do you find the course staff?
“The practical tutors are lovely, and because they’re experts in their own crafts and have their own businesses they really know what they’re talking about. It’s great to hear about their experiences in the industry.”
Has the course included any guest speakers?
“Anna Collette Hunt (alumna) delivered a few lectures on how she started her own business and how she secured different work opportunities. I really enjoy listening to people who already have their own websites or businesses, as they help a lot with how we can start something for ourselves. All of the guest speakers have been very helpful at answering any questions.”
What do you like about studying and living in Nottingham?
“Everything is so close, there’s never any need to waste money on taxis!”
Where do you hope to be in five years’ time?
“I’m really going to aim to start my own business. I would love to collaborate with places like Liberties and Next Home. I am going to try set up my own Etsy account and sell my own products on there, hopefully everything will fall into place.”
