More about Julie

"I chose to study a Masters course in branding to focus my knowledge and skillset to a specific area of design. I hope the course will allow me progress in my career through enabling me to adapt professional practices and experience in developing viable design solutions.

"I chose to study at NTU because it offers a creative design-based course that is also focused on being commercial and viable in the professional industry. I was recommended the School by current students, because of its broad range of courses and inspiring staff. I also see it as a strength having studied in multiple countries, gaining experience and knowledge on how to work within different cultural settings. Having an international education will be beneficial when working internationally in the future.

"I enjoy the creative freedom that we are given. There is no right or wrong answer. Although some answers are more right than others! It’s a very independent course and we are expected to be responsible for our own learning, guided and inspired by our supervisor. It’s up to the individual what you will get you of the course. The framework and opportunities are there, it’s just about grabbing them. I also value the seminars, talk and workshops hep by industry professionals that are available as an addition to scheduled classes.

"Our course staff consist of inspiring creatives who encourage us to push our own boundaries. Each staff member has a slight different approach to guidance and feedback, which is also representative of the real world. Learning how to use the different guidance and feedback will enable us to be prepared for the professional industry.

"I would recommend Nottingham for art and design students because of its opportunities and community. The student environment is great and it’s easy to get in contact with people with similar interests.

"This course has been focused on adopting professional practices and preparing us for a career after University. I believe the course will give me more confidence in entering the creative industries and knowing not just how to come up with innovative ideas, but how to develop, test and prepare them for implementation. Learning how to be confident in my work and being able to back it up by research and end-user testing is definitely one of the most valuable learning outcomes."
