More about Layla
What made you choose to study here?
"The facilities available, the varied subject areas, the nearby theatres and the city!"
Did you attend an open day and if so, what was your first impression?
"Yes, I was very impressed with the size of the City site and how all of the campus buildings are so different in style and structure – it makes it very interesting to walk around!"
What do you enjoy most about Theatre Design at NTU?
"I love the Waverley building and the fact that Theatre Design has its own designated studio space with plenty of handy plug sockets and computers. You can really personalise and create your own preferred type of workspace.
"I like the variety of areas we are taught within theatre design such as set design and construction, puppetry, lighting and installation design."
What have been your highlights so far?
"Making an 11ft tall puppet in my second year to be performed at the Paa Joe and the Lion gala event at Clumber Park. I had designed it and had the chance to realise it with a team of students which was a valuable experience for me."
What do you think about the course staff?
"If you're well organised and speak to tutors and technical staff in good time to ensure they know what you're planning then they can help you to prepare and plan the process and construction of your design in the best possible way."
