The course staff are great. Very approachable, always there to help, give advice and are clearly very knowledgeable within their teaching modules.
More about Lee
Why did you choose NTU and your course?
I chose NTU due to it being my closest university and the course because I believed it would help me with my dreams to work in the music industry and after reading the course spec, it mirrored what I wanted to achieve and also learn more about. I also wanted to test myself having had no academic experience for approximately 20 years.
What's your favourite thing about your course at NTU?
The networking experience it has offered me with high end music industry guests, from most sectors of the music industry.
What three words would you use to describe Nottingham?
Diverse, Active and Cultural.
What do you think of the creative and cultural scene in Nottingham? Is Nottingham a good city for an Art & Design student?
I think it’s amazing. No matter what day or night you go into the city, there is always something happening, lot’s to do, lots of different genre gigs to attend and a very wide range of different people of all gender’s and who are clearly creative (when you get to know them).
Where would you recommend visiting in Nottingham?
Bodega. For me and what I wish to achieve, the Bodega gives us an opportunity to get up close and personal with artist’s, managers and tour managers. It has allowed me to meet key industry creatives, and go on to build relationships with them and work with them on some projects.
If you could give new students some advice, what would it be?
Don’t be afraid to ask anyone anything. Get out there and network (your contact book is the most important tool you will own if you wish to make it in the industry). Look for opportunities and think outside the box at times. GO AND HUSTLE!!!
What do you think of the course staff?
The course staff are great. Very approachable, always there to help, give advice and are clearly very knowledgeable within their teaching modules. They are also very encouraging and wanting to drive students.
Have you used any of the student support services or NTU’s Employability team? How have you found this experience?
I have found them extremely helpful to me personally. I would always recommend them if needed.
What’s next for you after NTU?
I wish to go on working within the industry. I want to go into label services and separately carry on working within artist management and my DJ work.
