What made you choose to study at NTU?
“The Decorative Arts course is what made me choose NTU. There is a broad approach to the materials and I was impressed by how students are not influenced to follow a certain direction but to instead find their own style.”

What do you enjoy most about your course?
“The time spent with staff, both teaching and technicians, who have some deep knowledge of their individual specialisms.”

Has the course included any industry competitions?
“We have the opportunity to enter competitions ran by the Society of Dyers and Colourists - I really enjoyed entering this in my second year and I will also be entering this year. It’s an opportunity to mix with like-minded students from different disciplines and universities.”

How do you find the course staff?
“The current decorative arts course staff are so supportive and have so much time for their students. The technicians are friendly and very happy to help and extremely knowledgeable in their respective fields.”

What do you like about studying and living in Nottingham?
“Nottingham is an amazing city, very friendly and not too big. I lived here before attending university and find the rent very reasonable.”

Have you completed any work placements?
“I arranged a placement with Maison Lesage, a prestigious embroidery house in Paris. It was a fantastic opportunity and I was very fortunate to learn new embroidery techniques, attend the Chanel show and examine costumes at the Paris National Opera House and Moulin Rouge.”
