More about Robert

What made you choose to study at NTU?
“I was excited about the prospect of exploring a new city and I was impressed with the facilities NTU had on offer.”

Can you tell us about the live project you worked on with Oasis?
“Oasis came to the University and delivered their live brief to us face-to-face. We were asked to design three dresses based on a moodboard that they presented to us, and we had to stick to a precise colour scheme and a specific lace fabric.

“I was selected as the winner and was in complete shock! I was assisting a final year student with her final project when I found out, I completely lost focus, I just wanted to tell everyone!”

Has the course included any speakers or lecturers from industry?
“We have had a fair few. I particularly enjoyed meeting the ASOS team during a menswear project as they provided us with some great insights into the industry. I would have really liked to have seen Alexandra Shulman from British Vogue when she came, but I didn’t make it sadly.”

What do you think about the course staff?
“The tutors are great,  they really motivate you to work to a high level and give you lots of ideas. The technical staff are the best at what they do, if you have a problem they are incredibly supportive.”

What do you think about the facilities available to you?
“The studios are great and there are tons of workshops to explore and experiment in. The Library also has a wide range of books, articles and journals to help with your written work. Reading isn’t really my thing but I like looking at the large collection of Vogue magazines for inspiration.”

What do you like about studying and living in Nottingham?
“It’s the perfect sized city for me. There are enough new things to explore while still reminding me a little of home.”

Why would you recommend studying BA (Hons) Fashion Design at NTU to prospective students?
“It’s the perfect course for people who want to be innovative, but it still respects people like me who go for something a little simpler whilst still pushing you to develop designs that are new and unique.”
