More about Samantha

Samantha is from Hong Kong, and before she came to NTU she lived in New Zealand for three years. During her time at the University she was voted in to be President of the NTU Chinese Society.

What's it like being the President of the Chinese Society?
"It's very exciting. We've organised trips to London and had karaoke parties which are very popular. There are around 100 members in the Chinese society; some from China, some from Hong Kong and some British-born Chinese.

What about your course?
"Well I first heard about the University from a friend who had studied Fashion here. She had a very good experience and is now working for the Arcadia Group in London, which includes famous brands such as Topshop. I also had a look at the league table rankings for this subject. The course is closely aligned to industry. For example we do lots of industrial projects which relate directly to what is happening on the high street.

Do you think it has been a good investment coming here to study?
"Yes. I think that for Fashion it is definitely worth it. Studying in the UK is a better place to study Fashion. I'd like to work in fashion promotion, maybe in a graphics role, or perhaps advertising or visual merchandising. I think this course will be very useful for me."
