More about Samantha

What have you enjoyed most about studying Fashion Management so far?
“I enjoy learning about the wide variety of job roles I can go into after graduation. It feels like a very employable course to be on, which is very reassuring when it comes to the daunting world of fashion.”

Has the course included any guest lectures?
“We had a speaker come in from John Lewis. He gave us a fantastic insight into all the exciting things he’s involved in, such as the creation of the infamous Christmas adverts.”

How do you find the course staff?
“We have very supportive staff on our course. You can approach them with any worries you have concerning the course or just general uncertainties at university, and they will always offer you advice. Being industry experts themselves, they are extremely useful when it comes to providing advice on securing work experience.”

How did you find Welcome Week?
“Student representatives are there to help you feel welcome and to hype you up for the exciting freshers' week. There’s lots of organised events to help you make so many friends in the first week. The inductions on the course are also very reassuring and help you find your feet before the lectures start.”

What was moving into halls like?
“Fun! It was my first time living away from my parents and you learn very quickly how to be completely independent. You instantly become best friends with your flatmates because you’re with each other most of the day and it gives you an instant social group to go out with.”

Have you joined any societies?
“I have joined Thai Boxing as I have previous kickboxing experience, although I joined with friends who had very little sporting experience and we all love it. It feels like one big family as we train together and are always out at the infamous Ocean Wednesdays. As a society, we have also attended other social events such as a Christmas meal, a boat ball and there’s a upcoming sports tour to Spain.”

Why would you recommend studying Fashion Management at NTU?
“It’s a really feel-good, exciting course to be on. We’re so lucky to be able to study something that we’re all so passionate about. The industry contacts NTU have are invaluable to us, especially when it comes to our placement year. Everyone I know at NTU would fight until the end of time to prove that NTU really is one of the best universities to study at. We’re all on the same mission to do well in our degrees, and the opportunities offered to us by our course are not to be missed. Studying here will be the best years of your life!”
