More about Verity

What made you choose to study at NTU?
"Its fantastic facilities, friendly atmosphere and the exciting interpretation of Fine Art here. The idea of a new city was also very exciting!"

What do you enjoy most about your course at NTU?
"I enjoy the freedom we are given and how the studios have such a vibrant welcoming vibe with everybody being mixed together, it's like you are one big family."

Have you taken part in any collaborative projects or exhibitions that you can tell us about?
"We had a collaborative group show at The Park in Nottingham in conjunction with The Park's biannual Garden Trail where volunteered houses opened up their gardens for people to come and see. We attended committee meetings and went round each individual house to document, record and speak to the owners about the type of art which they would want to see.

"I have also helped out with projects at Nottingham Contemporary, Backlit and Surface Gallery along with other exhibitions in conjunction with NTU."

What do you think about the course staff?
"All of the tutors are also practicing artists so they have first-hand experience of what is happening out in the world today. They are all so accommodating, friendly, helpful and wonderful people in general, there is a mutual respect for one another and they are your friends, not just your teachers."

What do you think about the facilities?
"Fantastic, simple as that! Anything and everything you need is available to you."

What do you like about living in Nottingham?
"The city is an exciting place to be, it is relatively small so it isn't hard to learn where everything is. The nightlife and music scene is booming, everybody you want to see plays here."

Have you completed any placements?
"I have volunteered at many events at galleries in Nottingham and I am currently the marketing assistant for Bohunk Institute. Juggling this and university is all part of life, you get taught how to live in the real world. I have learnt that team work and time management skills are key."
