More about Yasemin

What did you enjoy the most about studying BA (Hons) Photography?
“Surprisingly, I enjoyed the dissertation! It was an amazing feeling to finish such a challenging piece of work. I also really enjoyed all of our practical projects – they allow you to get out of the classroom and explore.”

Can you tell us how it felt to be one of two students at NTU awarded the Genesis Imaging Award?
“I was delighted to be one of two students awarded a £500 bursary! It enabled me to produce an exceptionally high quality body of work for our degree show, using materials that I wouldn’t have dreamt of using without it.

“To have my work recognised and validated by an external artist and company is an amazing personal achievement, and the professional grade prints produced for me using my bursary award will last a lot longer than anything I could have produced myself – they have clearly been made with precision and care. “

Were you involved in any live projects or exciting briefs as part of your course?
“As part of your degree, BA (Hons) Photography students are required to partake in a live exhibition, producing visual work to showcase in a local gallery/space. I loved every aspect of this project: the extensive research, the photographic practice, putting together the physical show, and having my work seen and recognised by others. It was a bonus to be able to put on an opening night and private viewing at the gallery for family and friends!”

Did your course included any trips?
“There are lots of optional study trips that you can partake in. Destinations include London, New York, and Berlin!”

Can you tell us a little bit about the staff on your course?
“The tutors have a wealth of experience and are able to offer great advice and direction. It's great having tutors and lecturers who specialise in different areas of photography.”

Would you recommend studying BA (Hons) Photography at NTU to prospective students?
“NTU is one of the top universities in the UK to study Art & Design, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I would absolutely recommend NTU to any prospective artists or designers.”

Where do you hope to be in five years?
“Working in the visual media industry, ideally in news or current affairs.”
