Why did you choose NTU and your course?

“Location was definitely a big deciding factor for me, living in a new city can be daunting so it becomes easier when you know all your necessary shops, bars and clubs are in walking distance. One other big determining factor was the sports facilities. At NTU they cater for all sports and have excellent facilities and coaches. I chose Business Marketing and Management as I knew I wanted to venture into Marketing/Events industry, this course had a very high student satisfaction rate plus it also has a good reputation. This course enabled me to develop a solid understanding across the different business functions before specialising into Marketing and Business Development modules across my second and fourth year. I also liked the idea of having a placement option in your third year, which I would definitely recommend!”

What has stood out about Nottingham Business School?

I think what NBS do so well is preparing you for employability whilst providing relevant and intellectually stimulating modules in the curriculum. They provide ‘real-world’ business tasks, which allow students to immerse themselves into the workplace and apply marketing theories you learn to real life scenarios. I also liked how the Newton Building is directly in the middle of everything; the location makes it very convenient and easy to navigate especially for first year students.”

How would you rate the course facilities and why?

“NBS is by far the most modern and expansive business school I saw when visiting Universities. Studying in the Newton building, it is the most recognisable and established building and it makes you feel lucky to be a business student! It has excellent study areas scattered around the building, plus it has the NBS Link Lounge which allows for students to convene and work on their assignments as well as for students to meet with their tutors. There are also cafes and a number of different computer areas as well as desktops, which becomes very useful during revision time. It’s an excellent substitute for the library when this becomes too busy.”

What is your favourite thing about your course?

“When I first glanced at the course specification, I immediately noticed a clear focus on personal and professional development. This course provides extensive lectures, seminars and group-work activities to prepare you for the workplace and to apply your marketing knowledge in the most effective way. Not to mention the option to undertake a placement year, which allows you to gain vital work experience and better equips you for graduate opportunities post-graduation.”

How would you promote NTU to potential students in 10 words or fewer?

Vibrant student atmosphere, best city university location, enriching courses plus top sporting facilities.

How have you found Nottingham as a student city?

“I have loved living in Nottingham. The campus is right in the city centre, so you have everything around you; it’s like your own student hub. The nightlife here is probably one of the best I have seen across many Universities it has a bar or pub on every corner not to mention how cheap everything is! It is a perfect city for new students to explore and to fully embrace the student culture.”

Did you find it easy to make friends at NTU?

“Yes, the course includes lots of group work activities which allows you to break the ice at the beginning and maintain vital connections. I think it is really important to mention that joining a society can vitally improve your University experience. I would say majority of my friends come from a society. I joined the Hockey team, even though it can be daunting it is something I would never regret. I even got the opportunity to be on the committee, which looked good on my CV in preparation for a placement! You get to improve on vital employability skills such as goal setting, resiliency and empathy as well as socialising with people you would have never met before. You make friends for life and memories that will last forever.”

What do you think of the support available at NTU?

“Tutors always go above and beyond and seminars are always enriched with stimulating group activities to better prepare you for your professional career. The employability team will become your best friends, they are always offering a helping hand whether that be on improving your CV, preparing you for interviews and assessment centres or just there to have a conversation about your career paths. The employability team has helped me improve my CV year on year and better equipped me for assessment centres and tricky interview questions most students stumble upon.”
