More about Jessica

What made you choose to study at NTU?

“I instantly felt welcomed. The University had more than a ‘degree’ to offer, with over 100 sports clubs and societies. The business course I wanted to study offered everything and more. Nottingham is a fantastic city to live in, with a great atmosphere all year round.”

What were the key features that attracted you to your course?

“From the beginning I knew I wanted to incorporate some work in industry alongside my degree. The business course is one of the very few in the country that allows you to complete a six-month internship whilst studying. Rather than taking a year out, I had the opportunity to gain experience for half of year two.”

What do you enjoy most about your course?

“I like the constant support network that Nottingham Business School provides. I enjoy all aspects of the course, as there is a variety of modules with individual and group work task to break it up.”

What do you think about the course staff? How do they support your learning and University experience?

“I have always found the staff extremely helpful and supportive. From having 1-1’s with tutors whenever needed, to getting help with my CV from employability. There is support in every aspect thinkable.”

Why would you recommend your course / NTU to someone looking to study in that area?

“NTU has a diverse and open culture. There doors are open to all, with a massive support network. They ensure that all pupils are safe, as well as having a good time and solving any issue necessary.”

What work experience/placement have you completed?

“I spent half of my second year at NTU on a 6-month internship with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. This opportunity has given me invaluable experience, working full-time alongside studying was a challenge at times, however I have now been offered a graduate job with the firm. I was being paid and studying at the same time, and essentially fast-tracked my degree!”

How will your course and/or placement enhance your employability for your chosen career? What skills have you gained?

“I have gained a significant amount of experience in all aspects of the business, from discussing financial reports to working closely in the marketing and sales sector. This has greatly improved my emotional intelligence and I feel my experience in industry has truly set me up for the future.”

What are your plans for the future?

“I am now working as a Campus Brand Manager for the firm I completed my 6-month internship with! Once I leave university, I am looking forward to taking a year out and travelling.”

What opportunities have you had as a result of studying with NBS? How have these activities contributed to your university experience?

“I have worked as a member of the Collaborative, Engagement, Retention, Team at NTU. With full training days and the experience of helping students in younger years, I have found this extremely rewarding.”
