I really enjoyed that in our coursework we had to focus on applying the concepts to our own organisations, as the ideas we came up with could be readily applied in our work.

More about Marta

Why did you want to study a professional course?

"I already had a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism with Business; however, straight from university I started working for a financial services company and over the years I progressed from a Customer Service Representative to a Communications Specialist role. By then, I had a lot of experience of managing internal communications in my organisation but no qualification in that field. I felt that a professional course would help me develop my skills further."

Why did you choose to study at NTU?

"Nottingham Trent University, and particularly the Nottingham Business School, has a great reputation and the campus was local to me, so I went straight to the NTU website to look for the relevant course."

What stands out about Nottingham Business School?

"It is recognised internationally for its quality business education."

How do you believe this professional course has affected your career and your current job role?

"The qualification helped me develop new skills, especially the ability to apply strategic planning to internal communication. It also stood out on my CV when I was looking for a new opportunity and it helped me secure an exciting role at my current employer."

How would you rate the teaching and support staff on this course?

"The lecturers on the course were knowledgeable and had real-life experience of applying the concepts in organisations. They were also approachable and supportive, which was very helpful."

How did you balance studying alongside your professional role?

"Luckily, my employer allowed me time during my working hours to work on my coursework; however, I had to make sure that I dealt with my work tasks as a priority.

I also allocated two evenings a week to do my course reading and spent Saturday mornings on revising the lectures I attended on Wednesdays. It wasn’t easy and reduced my free time, but with good planning, and the support from my partner, it was possible."

What was your favourite thing about your course?

"I really enjoyed that in our coursework we had to focus on applying the concepts to our own organisations, as the ideas we came up with could be readily applied in our work."
