More about Nicolas

Tell us a bit about yourself...

I’m from Bogotá, Colombia and currently I am the only family member studying here in the UK. My main motivation to come here was the content of the program offered by the University and the potential opportunities in the UK. The journey has been really interesting, full of insightful things and experiences. I couldn’t be happier with my decision.

Tell us about your course...

The MSc Digital Marketing is a challenging course since the themes and the method could be hard at first. I would not doubt to recommend my course to other students, especially to those who are self-motivated and goal oriented, those are two key features of success in this course.

Tell us about your campus, where you study and your accommodation...

I’m in the city centre campus which is one of my favourite things about NTU. The facilities are great and the chance to be well connected in the heart of the city is simply convenient. When I’m not in class I’m at the gym working out, grabbing a coffee or trying a new dish.

How do you relax and have some ‘down time’ from your course?

I like to enjoy my free time and treat myself properly. From a home spa and junk food night at home to a night out dancing and having drinks with friends, I always love to find sometime for me. Also, when I have some time as well, I love to travel and explore. During my time here I’ve started a part-time job with Framework, a Housing Association that supports homeless reinsertion in the Midlands. The experience has been simply fantastic and insightful.

What’s Nottingham like for students?

I’ve been enjoying it so much! Nottingham is a compact and convenient city, especially from the student perspective. The facility to move around even by walking is simply amazing.

How would you describe the support you get at NTU?

The support has been good, most of the departments are there to help.

What are the living costs as a student here?

As with every city, the living cost varies depending on different factors: Location, size of the place, if you share or not, depending on the needs you have. The good thing is that Nottingham has options to meet different needs.

What made you decide to apply for a scholarship?

The need to find finance support to start the program for me was a key aspect. I felt satisfaction when I was awarded a scholarship and this was fundamental for me to take the decision to move here and start the programme. It’s not particularly difficult to apply for a scholarship, my main advice is to start preparation and paperwork in advance, read your statements and find the motivation to apply for it.
