More about Paula Andrea

Why did you decide to do postgraduate study?

“Before I started the MBA, I completed an MSc in Marketing Communications at a University in London. However, an MBA was going to give me the business knowledge and tools, paired with a practical placement year to give me the confidence to run a successful business.”

What made you choose NTU?

“NTU had the program that I wanted, an MBA with a focus in Digital Marketing plus a placement year for experience. This is together with the fact that NTU has an excellent reputation in being named one of the most sustainable universities in the world (which can be seen from the curriculum with modules on offer like ‘Responsible and Sustainable Leadership’). NTU also has a wide range of interesting extra curriculum activities which made my decision to pick NTU very easy.”

What do you enjoy most about your course at NTU?

“I’m learning about the whole management process of companies, supported by the amazing teaching staff who show us their passion through every module. The multicultural student environment also enriches my knowledge of how things work in many different cultures of the world.”

What do you think about the course staff? How do they support your learning and University experience?

“As I mentioned above, the teacher/tutors are amazing! When you are studying for an MBA, you need to have significant work experience already, so when you come to NTU teachers are going to treat you like a colleague rather than a student. This means that they are happy to hear from your previous experiences, incorporating this into the lectures to use as real-world examples to enable students to apply the relevant situation, challenging you all the time to discuss within the group. Alongside these talented lecturers, you have other amazing staff at NTU, who are always happy to help you with every aspect of the university, like for foreign students settling in, in the library, with volunteering, sports and other enquiries. The Employability Team will help you from tailor your CV and support and guide you in finding a job for during or after your course.”

What do you think about the facilities available to you?

“They are great! I’m studying at the City campus, which is located right in the city centre, the buildings are all well-equipped, plenty of space and very tidy. I’ve also had the opportunity to visit the Clifton campus, which is only a bus ride from the city centre, this site has excellent facilities including beautiful green areas to walk and play sports.”

Why would you recommend your course to someone looking to study in that area?

“I would recommend the MBA (Digital Marketing) program to anyone that has an interest in growing in managerial roles or want to create their own business within digital media as this program will benefit you with the most recent theory and real-life study cases partnered with experience in external consultancy projects.”

What has been your greatest achievement at NTU so far?

“I had the opportunity to complete a consultancy experience within a local business to review several of their processes and I was able to suggest improvements in both time and cost efficiencies which the business is now looking to implement. This was a great feeling to have made a difference and put the theory from lectures into a practical environment. I’m also extremely proud of the grades I have achieved so far in my first-year modules.”

Have you taken up any opportunities offered by NBS? How has this contributed to your university experience?

“I’ve taken some opportunities offered from Nottingham Business School and from the university in general. At NBS I’ve had the opportunity to come to some networking events aiming to expand my university and professional network, they also offer some more practical workshops in subjects like advanced digital marketing and personal development. The university offers hundreds of social sports and activities to all students. I have joined the university choir as I love to sing and have made friends outside of my course. As part of the choir, we’ve had the opportunity to sing in the Christmas concerts alongside the NTU bands and currently preparing for a summer concert of The Black Knight from Edward Elgar.”
