More about Xuejiao

Why did you decide to do postgraduate study?

“I graduated from NTU with an MSc Marketing degree in 2015. This master’s degree has helped me to gain a good opportunity and position in my company. I’ve worked for this company for around two years. I still felt like I could develop my potential further and I wish to have my own business one day. Then I noticed the MBA is another course which could help me to develop all aspects of my business. I wanted more experience in finance, marketing and managing people as they are all very important for start- up businesses.

What made you choose NTU?

“The first time I chose NTU compared to other universities is because the university had good rankings and a good location in the UK. It’s also less expensive compared to London and offers an alumni discount and scholarships which helps me save a lot to be able to study in the UK. NTU is a very modern university that not only focuses on academic study but also provides lots of opportunities to practice what you learn.”

What do you enjoy most about your course at NTU?

“The structure of the MBA course is very good. It satisfies my needs in terms of business and its student oriented that I get to choose the modules I need. For example, you can choose a specialism that suits you in the second term. The other most enjoyable part of this course is the placement year which helps me gain another year’s overseas work experience.”

What do you think about the course staff? How do they support your learning and University experience?

“NTU course staff are all very professional and friendly. My tutor is always patient and gives us support all the time.”

What do you think about the facilities available to you?

“NTU is the top 4 modern university in the UK. The library is open 24 hours and the atmosphere is very good for study. You can also borrow a laptop from the university which is very convenient.”

Why would you recommend your course to someone looking to study in that area?

“The MBA course is very good design and the exchange study trip is amazing. You will get professional acknowledgement from studying the course and get to meet professional people in different areas.”

Have you completed any work placements and if so can you tell me a little bit about them?

“My last placement was working for NTU’s International department as an international marketing assistant. I helped NTU to set up a marketing plan for the Chinese market. As I performed well my leader recognized my ability and I got job offer from the International Team which I feel very honoured about.”

What do you believe sets Nottingham Business School apart?

“The biggest difference for me is the combination of theory and practice. I have several years work experience; I feel NTU helps me gain more knowledge than just academic.”

What has been your greatest achievement at NTU so far?

“I would like to say the way of thinking. NTU has changed my life in terms of believing in myself, having an open mind and being innovative. All the certificates and experiences I have got from NTU has helped me build up confidence, a professional image and expert knowledge.”
