More about Waleed

Why did you choose NTU and Nottingham Law School?

The variety of modules in the LLM portfolio and experience of the teaching staff at Nottingham Law School (NLS) were the primary factors for making Nottingham Trent University (NTU) my home in the UK.

Why did you choose postgraduate study at NTU?

NTU offered flexibility in module selection for LLM students to choose from up to 34 modules which allowed me to learn about contemporary issues in a wide range of subject areas from artificial intelligence to energy transition.

What inspired you to study law?

I had extensive corporate and commercial experience as an in-house legal but wanted to conduct specialised research in corporate governance to analyse the role of corporations in the context of long term sustainability.

What do you enjoy about your course?

Interactive learning with NOW learning room, independent research and writing skill development with OSCOLA referencing and engaging debate with global peers.

What marks out of 10 would you give for course facilities and why?

8 out of 10. Chaucer building is centrally located, lecture theatres are well equipped and learning rooms have all required data and assistance easily accessible through phone or laptop.

How would you promote NTU to potential students in 10 words or fewer?

Encourage yourself to unleash your true potential at NTU.

What three words would you use to describe Nottingham?

Eco-Friendly, legendary, vibrant

Where would you recommend visiting in Nottingham?

Colwick Country Park, Hockley and Green’s Windmill.

If you have a (non-academic) problem who would you talk to? What would you do?

International Student Support, Mature Student Support And NTU Global Lounge.

Finally, is there anything else you’d like to share?

I have been lucky to come here with my family and secure a first class degree but I did not know how challenging it would be in the initial stages. Always plan ahead, try to attempt all formative coursework, plan any part-time work, family time and study time with a strict discipline so that you can really enjoy your “me” time as well!
