What has stood out about NTU in Mansfield?

"The accessibility of having University facilities without having to commute into the city or further afield, as I feel Mansfield and surrounding areas do tend to get forgotten about.

"I feel really supported as a mature student and any worries about the course quickly dissipated once I started. It is lovely to be surrounded by like-minded people from different backgrounds and experiences. I’m fortunate enough to be part of a great group for the next three years."

What do you think of the support available at NTU in Mansfield?

"The support is brilliant from my perspective, the course staff are approachable to discuss any concerns, if not they can signpost to the most appropriate people. Student support and the Employability Team frequently reach out with information and guidance regarding their services which is really helpful."

Can you tell us a bit about your placement?

"I’m due to go out on my first placement soon and really looking forward to experiencing the role of a student nurse in a clinical setting and expanding my knowledge and skills. I have previously worked in a nursing home for a year and really enjoyed my work there and hoping to transfer the skills I have already developed into a nursing perspective."

What is your favourite thing about your course?

"I really enjoy the practical sessions because they are hands-on and it is a really comfortable environment to learn and experience sessions in a mock clinical setting.

"The course facilities on campus are beyond expectation. There is a separate unit for those studying nursing and paramedic science and it is evident that the university has really invested in this area, it is fantastic! I like the way the course is designed by combining theory and practice in a coordinated format that is manageable."

What’s next for you after NTU in Mansfield?

"I would love to complete my three years by qualifying as a registered nurse and come back to NTU to pursue a Masters Degree to further my education."
