Why NTU
What inspired you to study your language?
I had been studying Spanish at both GCSE and A Level, so I wanted to continue learning the language alongside my degree—and NTU’s University Language Programme made this possible!
Why did you choose to study at NTU?
I initially chose to study the BA International Business with Spanish course at NTU because of the amazing opportunity to live and study in Valencia for 2 years. However, after seeing that there were other courses better suited to my interest in sustainable fashion, I made the decision to switch onto BA Fashion Management—which allowed me to pursue my passion! Also, the opportunity to study languages alongside my degree on the ULP meant that I could maintain my love of language learning!
How did you find the sign-up process and attending your classes? (Are you attending in person, online etc)
The sign-up process was very easy, and the staff at NTU are always available to help you through any queries you may have! Over the 4 years of being part of the ULP, classes delivered both online and in-person were always engaging and interesting—and catered to all levels within the class.
Support
What do you think of the support available from tutors and staff at the University Language Programme (ULP) and NTU?
The support from tutors and staff at the ULP and NTU overall has been incredibly helpful, they are always available to answer any questions you may have. The tutors within the ULP are also very welcoming and make you comfortable in every single lesson!
Outside of the Lecture Theatre
Did you find it easy to make friends and settle in?
I personally found it easy to make friends and feel settled within the city, as Nottingham has such a tight knit community which you can easily find your place in! I think having a social job alongside university, and joining societies to find likeminded people, certainly helped me feel more at-home whilst at university!
Advice
What top tips would you give anyone thinking about studying a language course at NTU?
I would say go for it! Although it may seem tricky to juggle both a degree and a language course, I found it quite helpful having another subject to focus on and take my mind off my main course—especially during final year. Also, if you are currently a student at NTU, the language course is technically free if you pass the year…so what’s not to like!
