"I chose to study a postgraduate degree to gain advanced knowledge and skills that would enable me make an important impact in public health through research, policies and preventive healthcare."
Why did you choose your course at NTU?
"I chose to study at NTU because it provides a strong, supportive learning environment especially for international students and a Public Health course that aligns perfectly with my background in Pharmacy and my passion for improving health."
What’s your experience been like of your course so far? Can you pick out any highlights?
"My experience on the course so far has been very positive and engaging. I have particularly enjoyed the practical, group-based learning, including an assignment where we worked in teams to observe a local area and produce a report on our findings. Visiting and assessing Lenton Park during this exercise was a real highlight and helped bring Public Health concepts to life in a practical and memorable way."
Have you been involved in any projects or extra-curricular activities that have supplemented your studies run through NTU?
"Alongside my studies, I have been involved in group projects and academic activities run through NTU that have complemented my learning. These experiences have helped me develop teamwork, communication, and practical research skills, which have strengthened my understanding of Public Health beyond the Classroom."
What does Social Sciences mean to you? e.g. working with people, transforming lives, frontline services
"To me, Social Sciences means transforming lives through evidence- based practice, supporting communities, and strengthening frontline services that address real-world challenges and reduce health inequalities. It is about working closely with people to understand the social factors that influence health and wellbeing."
Can you tell us about the Scholarship you were awarded and how that will help you in your studies?
"I was awarded a 50% NTU Excellence, which has been a huge support in my studies. The scholarship has significantly reduced the financial burden on my Master’s degree program, allowing me to focus fully on my coursework, academic development, and making the most of the learning opportunities available at NTU."

What do you think of the support available from tutors and staff at NTU?
"The support from tutors and staff at NTU has been excellent. My lecturers are approachable and supportive, and the guidance available has been very helpful throughout my studies. I have also found the library support particularly impactful, especially in accessing academic resources and developing my research and study skills."

Did you find it easy to make friends and settle in at NTU?
"Yes, I found it easy to make friends and settle in at NTU. The Global Lounge in particular made it easy to meet new people, connect with students from different backgrounds, and feel welcomed into the university community."
The Next Steps…
What’s next for you after NTU?
"After NTU, I plan to pursue research focused on public health interventions for HIV in Nigeria, particularly ‘’the role of pharmacies in early detection and treatment’’. My long-term goal is to collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop policies that better integrate pharmacists into primary healthcare and strengthen health promotion and prevention strategies."
How is NTU helping you to achieve your career goals?
"NTU is helping me achieve my career goals by providing a strong foundation in public health theory, research skills, and practical learning. The supportive academic environment and access to excellent resources have equipped me with the knowledge and confidence needed to pursue research and contribute meaningfully to public health policy and practice."

"Yes, the employability team at NTU has been supportive in helping me think about life beyond my postgraduate studies. Their guidance and resources have been helpful in exploring career options and planning my next steps after graduation."

"I chose to study in the UK because of its strong reputation for high-quality education and research, particularly in public health. The UK’s diverse and multicultural academic environment has allowed me to broaden my perspective, collaborate with students from different backgrounds, and gain a global outlook on health challenges."
What experiences have you had as an international student at NTU?
"My experience as an international student at NTU has been welcoming and enriching. I’ve enjoyed meeting students from diverse backgrounds, engaging in collaborative learning, and taking part in sports activities, including basketball, which have been a great way to stay active and connect with others."
What advice would you give to help new international students get settled in at university?
"My advice to new international students would be to get involved in university activities, visit the Global Lounge, and connect with fellow students early. Engaging with the community and seeking support from tutors and university services makes settling in much easier and more enjoyable."
