Visual Communication

At NTU, design is in our heritage, but our methods are far from traditional. Visual Communication is constantly evolving, and our courses merge creative fields, ideas and minds. Find your style in disciplines including graphics design, animation, photography, illustration, and visual effects.

Visual Communication at NTU

The field of Visual Communication is one of the most exciting and dynamic sectors of the UK’s highly successful creative industries.

Through live projects, competitions, exhibitions, industry links and placements, you will work in professional contexts and identify how you and your practice sit within the creative and cultural industries. Guest speakers and visiting alumni will provide you with valuable contacts within the creative industries. You will also have the opportunity to visit exciting creative cities and countries, and to study abroad for a semester.

Facilities for Visual Communication students

Located in our new Design and Digital Arts building in the centre of Nottingham, from day one you’ll find yourself using the same facilities and equipment as those already in the industry. From creative studio spaces and digital design resources, you’ll be honing your creative process and exploring and utilising traditional, new and emerging technologies. Whether it’s motion, screen-printing or interactive, there’s a whole host of resources available to realise your creative ideas. You’ll gain advanced knowledge and skills in industry-standard design software packages including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and InDesign. And it’s not just the equipment that’s cutting-edge – our academic and technical support teams will always be on hand to help you with any questions you may have.

New Design & Digital Arts Building

Launching in 2024, the new Design & Digital Arts Building will place Nottingham as a UK hub for film, television, animation, UX design, games design, graphic design, and more.
