City Campus

If you’ve been to one of our open days, you’ll know that our City Campus is in a perfect location in the heart of Nottingham. Home to over 16,000 students, it’s right where all the action is, just a short walk from the city centre’s shops, bars, restaurants and other attractions and facilities.

And it really has got so much to impress, not least because we’ve invested £350 million lately across our three campuses. We’ve given our libraries a brand new look, revamped historic buildings and facilities and built state-of-the-art new ones. It’s a cosmopolitan, bustling location with an excellent range of accommodation and loads of great places to meet, eat and study. Not to mention our award-winning new Students’ Union building with its exciting social and leisure spaces.

We’re also proud to tell you that Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is one of the most sustainable universities in the world. Visit our Sustainability website to find out how we’re contributing to this at our City Campus – as well as taking a sneaky peek at our falcon cameras.

NTU City Campus is really spacious and feels calm; you don’t feel like you are in the middle of a city.

Facilities

To get an idea of what it’s like to study at our City Campus, here’s a snapshot of the great spaces and facilities you’re likely to use regularly if you join NTU:

  • The historic Newton and Arkwright buildings – We’ve invested a massive £90 million in regenerating these two iconic Grade II listed buildings. Now beautifully restored, you’ll usually find them buzzing with students on their way to modern lecture theatres, IT suites and café spaces. Need a bank, or help from our Student Support Services, Employability Team or Accommodation Services? This is where you’ll find them. Doing a course at Nottingham Business School (NBS)? You’ll have your home here too. And how about this for a claim to fame – Albert Einstein once gave a lecture here!
  • The impressive and newly refurbished Boots Library – We’ve spent millions of pounds refurbishing the library on our City Campus, and it shows. Expect a huge range of facilities and resources here, as well as award-winning customer service and a diverse range of study spaces. We've even created a beautiful rooftop garden above the Library - providing an alternative place to study or somewhere to take a quiet break away from the busy streets below. And we’re open 24 hours during term-time, for when that urge to work at strange times strikes!
  • An outstanding Students’ Union – Crowned Higher Education Students’ Union of the Year 2015 by the National Union of Students (NUS), the Students’ Union at our City Campus has got plenty to boast about – a 2,400-capacity live music venue, 30ft climbing wall, modern gym, dance studio, sports hall, café and bars, shop, and more. Put simply, our Students’ Union is one of the best in the UK. It really is at the heart of our City Campus, and it’s no wonder – we designed it around our students’ vision.
  • Our Global Lounge – Drop into our Global Lounge to take part in a range of multicultural activities and find out all about the international opportunities here at NTU. Everyone’s welcome!
  • The Hive – Our centre for entrepreneurship and enterprise, for anyone with an interest in turning a business idea into reality.

All this is just for starters. From a mock shares Trading Room to mock courtrooms, and a newsroom and TV studio to a virtual reality lab, there’s so much more than meets the eye at our City Campus.

I chose NTU because I loved how we had our own Campus, but we’re so close to the city centre.
