Last week, Dawn Foods announced their Student Ambassadors for 2025 and Jordan Young, a student at Nottingham Trent University, has been named as the first ambassador out of three.

Throughout his journey, Jordan has gained recognition for his enthusiasm for baking and achieved multiple awards since he left school. As an apprentice at Patton’s Bakery in Newtownards, Northern Ireland, he secured a bronze award in the Northern Ireland Professional Artisan Baker of the Year in 2018.

His success continued by being named National Bakery Awards Young Baker of the Year 2023 and the ABST Danish Pastry Bronze Award Winner. He also secured bursaries to continue his studies, including the 2024 Worshipful Company of Bakers Bursary to attend the Richemont Bakery School in Switzerland.

Jordan joined NTU and The School of Artisan Food, where during his placement year he taught at Belfast Met Bakery College. At the end of his course, he was awarded Top FdSC Student in the School in 2024. Jordan has continued his studies at NTU to undertake a BSc (Hons) Food Science and Technology degree.

Sheila Russell, the Artisan Food Production Course Leader said that Jordan has been an exceptional student. He impressed all tutors with his dedication, hard work and helpfulness, but also in his willingness to support other students through his student mentor and course representative roles."

Jordan was named a Student Ambassador because he impressed the team at Dawn Foods with "his dedication to the technical craft of baking, in-depth knowledge of current bakery trends as well as his understanding of the commercial challenges faced by the industry."

As a Student Ambassador, he will have the opportunity to work with Dawn’s development team on new recipes, create content for social media and contribute to blogs for the company and external media including British Baker.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at NTU, particularly the incredible opportunities to go abroad. Baking in Reykjavik and earning a place on the Worshipful Company of Bakers overseas bursary to Luzern, Switzerland, have been unforgettable highlights of my journey. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Dawn Foods as their student ambassador for 2025. I’m excited to create engaging social media content, share new recipes, and provide insights into the bakery industry through various platforms. I look forward to connecting with the baking community and inspiring others with my journey.
