The NSS invites students to share their views across a range of themes such as academic support, learning opportunities, teaching and assessments and the wider student experience.

Their feedback provides information to help prospective students decide where to study and the results support universities and colleges in improving their students’ experience.

This year, more than 6,100 NTU students took part – a 70% response rate – providing valuable insight into how they perceive their time at the university.

NTU has seen improvements across all areas, with a strong increase for the ‘student voice’ theme, a measure of the extent to which students think their views are heard and acted upon.

In comparison with the average for the sector, NTU performed better in the majority of themes, particularly ‘assessment and feedback’ and ‘organisation and management’.

There were a number of areas where 90% or more students responded positively. These included  receiving assessment feedback on time, how good teaching staff were at explaining things, how well students’ learning was supported by teaching staff and by library and subject-specific resources.

An analysis of this year’s NSS data by The Times newspaper placed NTU in the top 20 institutions (16) for student satisfaction.

“This is another good set of results for NTU,” said Jane McNeil, Pro Vice-Chancellor – Education.

She said: “Across the sector, there has been an increase for all themes in 2025. To maintain our lead on the sector average in this context is a great achievement, and a testament to everyone’s hard work.”
