Throughout the day, students heard from teams across buying, merchandising, marketing and several other key departments. These sessions offered a clear and practical understanding of how specialist roles operate within a global fashion brand, helping students connect their academic learning to industry expectations.

A standout moment of the visit was the opportunity to meet Paul Smith himself and explore both his personal office and the design studio. This unique experience gave students an inspiring look into the creative environment behind one of the United Kingdom’s most influential fashion houses and offered valuable perspective as they prepare for their future careers.

Reflecting on the experience, current International Fashion Business student Drishti Anand shared how the visit influenced her creative outlook and professional ambitions:

“Having the opportunity to meet Sir Paul Smith himself was something I truly didn’t expect, and it made the visit even more memorable. Walking into his office felt like stepping inside his mind, walls lined with books, objects collected from around the world and layers of art, textures and toys that all feed into his creative process.

“As a final-year fashion student, it was powerful to see how a distinctive personal vision can shape an entire brand universe. The visit has encouraged me to lean even more into curiosity in my own work or finding beauty in the overlooked.”

The visit provided students with invaluable opportunities to connect with industry professionals, widen their networks and deepen their understanding of the global fashion landscape. It reflects NTU’s commitment to preparing graduates for success in an evolving and competitive sector.
