Travel and accommodation
You will find everything you need to get to Clifton Campus and if you need to stay in Nottingham during your graduation.
Getting to and around NTU's Clifton Campus
Please note: due to the time of year and various seasonal celebrations, Nottingham and the surrounding area will be extremely busy during the graduation period. Therefore, please take this into account when planning your travel arrangements and allow sufficient travel time.
Regular trams run from the city centre out towards the Clifton Campus. Trams will be signposted Clifton South, and will terminate at the Clifton South (tram park and ride stop). From there, free shuttle buses will be available to transfer visitors to and from the Clifton Campus. Please be aware that the University of Nottingham also has graduation ceremonies taking place on the same dates and we don't want you or your guests to end up at the wrong venue. When arriving by tram from the city centre, please ensure you get the tram to Clifton South (the purple line). More information about routes can be found online.
The University has also arranged a reduced rate Event Tram Ticket for £2.00 available from any of the ticket machines. Please ensure that you have both your tram ticket and graduation invitation email before you board and have it to hand when requested by one of the travel officers.
Nottingham train station is about five miles from Clifton Campus. A taxi from the station will cost around £10, and there is a taxi rank right outside the station entrance.
There is a Go2 Uni 4 bus from just outside Nottingham Train Station which travels directly to Clifton Campus. This bus runs from every seven minutes at peak lecture times, and until midnight Monday - Saturday. There is also a night bus on the route connecting the railway station to Clifton Campus until 03:15, six days a week.
Tickets cost £2.20 for a single trip or £4 for a day pass. Discounted student passes are also available from the Nottingham City Transport website.
There are a very limited number of parking spaces available at the Clifton Campus in the South Gate Car Park, with priority being given to blue badge holders. If you are a blue badge holder, please access the campus via the South Gate entrance where a member of staff will be on hand to direct you.
We do, however, recommend driving to the Clifton South Tram Park and Ride Stop NG11 8BF (1 mile from Clifton Campus) where free shuttle buses will be available to transfer visitors to and from the Clifton Campus. If taking this option, you will be required to purchase a £4.00 day ticket per car from the tram ticket machine which you must display on your dashboard. If accessing the car park from the A453, please park in zone 3 and if accessing from Nottingham Road/Clifton Lane, please park in zone 2.
There are a range of hotels in Nottingham city centre, to suit all budgets, with many being in walking distance to our City Campus. For information on hotels in the area, visit the Experience Nottinghamshire website.
