Introduction:

Whether you're looking to enhance your leadership skills in managing new team members or planning a broader inclusion programme, this course offers practical insights and tools to help you create an inclusive environment within your business. The course addresses the opportunities and challenges relevant to organisations, along with current legislation.

Throughout this course, you will build your confidence and competence in working with and managing individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences. This will enable you to leverage unique talents for the benefit of both individuals and your business, giving you a stronger ability to strengthen your workforce and recruit from a wider pool of skilled candidates.

This one-day workshop is for current or aspiring leaders who wish to become more inclusive in their leadership approach.

What you’ll study

Course overview

The Inclusivity in the Workplace short course provides essential skills and strategies for fostering a diverse, inclusive, and legally compliant workplace. The course equips leaders and their teams with tools to build a culture of inclusivity that aligns with organisational values and customer expectations. You will learn how to support colleagues with different perspectives so that their unique talents are harnessed productively.

Participants will also learn to recognise and address questionable workplace behaviours, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all team members which goes beyond compliance with employment law. The program enhances confidence in managing a diverse workforce and helps leaders design impactful inclusion initiatives.

Participants will also gain practical insights into upholding diversity and inclusion principles, strengthening their reputation as advocates for an inclusive workplace.

Learning outcomes

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the many ways in which people differ from each other
  • Create inclusive environments within your teams
  • Understand the values and motivations of all generational groups in your organisation, and how these can be used to your advantage

How you’re taught

This short course is delivered as a three hour, in-person workshop.

The course is research informed and practice led, using interactive discussion, case studies, exploring many aspects of managing difference and creating inclusion.

Upon completion, participants will receive a Digital Badge, demonstrating their commitment to becoming a more inclusive leader.

Facilitators

This course is delivered by: Anne Cockayne.

Anne is a senior lecturer in the Department of Human Resource Management and is a qualified coach. She contributes to the Learning and Development module for the professional CIPD programmes and supports the FT MSc HRM students as an academic mentor. Anne continues to enjoy working with the SME sector.
