NTU's Employability Promise
Whatever course you study at NTU, we’ll make sure you graduate with the skills, confidence, resilience and good habits to last a lifetime — giving you a competitive edge in the job market, and preparing you for whatever the future has in store.
Employability is one of those university buzzwords. But what does it really mean — and why is it about more than just finding a job?
We’re ranked 1st in the UK for Employability (Uni Compare 2025) because we focus on the bigger picture of ‘you’ — not just the dream career you’re aiming to unlock, but the person behind those ambitions. We’re here to help you develop a better sense of yourself: to know who you are, what you’re capable of, and what matters most to you.
Our promise to you
There are some things that lectures and theories just can’t teach, and that’s where our Employability Promise comes in.
We’ve got your future covered. If you’re an undergraduate student, you’ll enjoy 8 weeks of hands-on, employer-facing experience which we include as standard on every single undergraduate course. Whatever course you’re studying, you’ll benefit from the specialists, opportunities and training programmes that’ll help you build that vital self-knowledge.
If you’re wanting more connections and experience, you can even complete a year-long industry placement on many of our courses — both postgraduate and undergraduate. It’s a great way to learn what your subject looks like in the real world.
From your first days on campus to the years after you’ve graduated, our Employability Promise has got your back. And when we make a promise, we mean it!

- The post-graduation opportunities don’t stop there — if you’re looking to supercharge your professional prospects, you could take part in our Graduate Careers Academy, and enjoy access to NTU’s Graduate Elevate Week event.
- The job market’s a competitive place. If after 12 months you’re not in work or further study, our Employability Promise matches you with a paid placement to help get the ball rolling. This ground-breaking programme — the Graduate Internship Scheme — is just one more level of safety and support you can count on (subject to eligibility).
