Animation for 15 - 17 Year Olds

This weeklong Animation course will provide you with an introduction to digital animation using Adobe Animate CC and Wacom Cintiq tablets. By the end of the course you will have a good understanding of the Adobe software and its capabilities, and you will have produced a series of short projects that demonstrate your new skills in making crazy animated characters.

Architecture for 15 - 17 Year Olds

This Architecture for 15 - 17 year olds course will introduce you to contemporary approaches to design, with ingenious projects that will develop your awareness of how designers are shaping the modern world we live in.

Art Portfolio for 15 - 17 Year Olds

TV Presenting for 15 - 17 Year Olds

This course gives you an introduction to television presenting, ideal for anyone with an interest in journalism and media. You’ll experience studio and on-location presenting, as well as basic voice training and performance coaching, to ensure you to feel relaxed and confident in the role of a presenter.

Digital Fine Art for 15 - 17 Year Olds

This course will develop your understanding of the digital fine art world with a focus on creativity, portfolio building, colour theory and art appreciation. Spending time exploring digital art, you will work with painting, drawing, photo manipulation, colour theory, cartooning, scene making and concept work.

Fashion Design Portfolio for 15 - 17 Year Olds

On this course you'll learn how to create fashion concepts, taking your designs from an initial idea and sketch to a developed garment. By the end of the course you'll have a portfolio of new drawings and designs, plus examples of working in 3D. You'll have real hands-on experience of what it's like to be a fashion student at university, and an understanding of what admissions tutors are looking for. It's ideal if you're looking to progress into fashion design, accessory design or costume.

Journalism for 15 - 17 Year Olds

This course introduces you to the craft of journalism. It'll provide you with the basic skills journalists are required to have when working in both news and features.

Museums Today for 15 – 17 Year Olds

This course is for those interested in social and cultural history and how it is being curated in museums and galleries today. In Nottingham and the surrounding areas there are many nationally important museums, as well as castles, country estates and art galleries, all celebrating British history.

Photography Portfolio for 15 - 17 Year Olds

Special Make Up Effects for Theatre, Film and TV for 15 - 17 Year Olds

You’ll learn how to create special effects make up and practice applying prosthetics effectively; you can have little or no previous make up experience and still achieve realistic results.

Interior Design Portfolio for 15 - 17 Year Olds

This course will give you an insight into the world of interior design and inspire you with the confidence to present your own schemes. It's ideal if you are considering further studies in interior design and wish to start your portfolio.

Props and Costume Making for Theatre and TV for 15 - 17 Year Olds

Get hands-on experience of designing, casting, mould making and using paint effects to fabricate realistic props and costumes for theatre performances and TV. This practical and fun course is ideal if you’re interested in finding out what it’s like to work behind the scenes on a theatre or TV project to bring characters to life. It’s also ideal if you are considering further studies and wish to start your portfolio with a unique and creative project.

Accommodation

If you’d like to stay on campus for the duration of your summer school, we offer single rooms in shared apartments in Nottingham Trent University’s halls of residence, just a minute’s walk to the summer school studios and all of Nottingham's attractions. What’s included:

  • single rooms with a private bathroom
  • a shared kitchen area with white goods, crockery and basic cooking utensils for preparing meals
  • free wifi
  • reception staff and 24-hour security
  • bed linen on arrival, with rooms serviced once per week
  • a coin-operated launderette
  • if you book this option, you will meet the criteria for your Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award residential.

Bookings are taken on a five-night basis, from Sunday to Friday.

Note: You must be aged 18 or over to make a booking.

If aged 15 then you can stay as long as you are accompanied by a parent/guardian.

If you're aged 16 or 17 then you can stay unaccompanied with agreement from a parent/guardian by completing a consent form before arrival.
