Learn from the past. Build a brighter future.
The past is our teacher, our textbook and our guide to a brighter future.
Studying history isn’t only about what has happened – it’s about how you’ll act on it, and what will happen next.
By developing critical thinking, communication and analytical skills, you’ll boost your employability and gain a global outlook on the historical issues which continue to burden the present.
You’ll graduate with a range of valuable experience, knowledge and skills to apply in real-world situations.

Nottingham - a city of history and heritage
With a rich local history and hundreds of nearby museums and heritage sites to visit, Nottingham is the perfect place to develop your skills as a budding historian.
There are opportunities to develop your skills in the heritage sector through work placements and volunteering. The University is also a key partner in the city’s Creative Quarter, centered around the historic Lace Market and Hockley areas. It’s a hotbed of culture and home to many of the city’s independent retailers, bars, restaurants, small creative companies and artists.
