Funding your university experience: FAQs
Balancing study and work is easier than you might think. Whilst your course requires commitment, your timetable won’t be full every day — leaving space for independent study and flexibility throughout the week
Many students work part-time alongside their studies. NTU’s JobShop is a great place to find paid work across a range of sectors in and around the city, while Unitemps, our in-house recruitment agency, offers paid opportunities right on campus, to fit around your studies and strengthen your CV.
Placement roles are usually paid, helping to cover living costs while you gain valuable industry experience. You can also apply for a Maintenance Loan during your placement year, with the amount depending on how your placement is structured.
If your placement is classed as an ‘unpaid service’, you could be entitled to a full maintenance package and additional financial support through the NTU Bursary.
For more details, visit our sandwich placement funding page.

By signing up to student discount platforms like UNiDAYS or Student Beans, you can unlock exclusive deals on food, travel, fashion and entertainment.
