I feel free and I get treated like an adult. I really enjoy it and it is nice being on a university campus.
More about Denize
I chose to do a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management at Brackenhurst, because it had a lot of facilities and opportunities, which other colleges did not offer, including an animal unit. During this course, I got to do a lot of practical work with a wide range of species e.g. reptiles, rodents and donkeys.
I really enjoyed the farming modules as it gave me the opportunity to do lambing. I also enjoyed the health modules. The course gives you a lot of opportunities, which A- levels could not offer, such as practical elements.
I did a placement at an equine vets for two weeks and I got to assist in gastroscopies, minor surgeries, general consultations and vaccinations. I thoroughly enjoyed this!
My course tutors are very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. I did have extra support too, from the employability team who helped with my personal statement for university.
I chose Brackenhurst because of the facilities they offer and the practical elements of the course and the opportunities involved. I feel free and I get treated like an adult. I really enjoy it and it is nice being on a university campus. It didn’t take long at all to settle in. I made friends immediately and felt comfortable.
I’ve joined the Brackenhurst YFC. It is an amazing opportunity to meet other students. If I had to describe my time at Brackenhurst in three words, I’d say enjoyable, opportunities and friendships!
In future, I would like to be a veterinary physiotherapist. Everything I have learned, I can apply to other jobs.
