The course staff at NTU are amazing and supportive. When I needed support the course staff were always there to help and guide me. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to study at a university that cares for the well-being of its students.

More about Paria

Why NTU…

Why did you choose NTU and your course?

For me, there is nothing more beautiful than seeing my ideas and imagination come to life. From a sketch on paper to a 3D model and hopefully a real building in the future.

Architecture is a profession that challenges you to push the boundaries and create beautiful living and working environments for people, but what makes this profession even more beautiful is that you get to be a part of people’s lives and will always be a part of those beautiful moments people live, more importantly, you leave a footprint for the generations to come.

I remember when I first came to one of NTU’s open days and visited the architecture studio I instantly knew I wanted to study here.

What do you think about the course staff? How do they support your learning and university experience?

The course staff at NTU are amazing and supportive. Without any doubt, any degree-level qualification can be challenging sometimes and architecture is no different, but when I needed support the course staff were always there to help and guide me. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to study at a university that cares for the well-being of its students.

Have you been involved in any live projects of briefs on your course and if so, can you talk a bit about one you really enjoyed?

As part of the Technology and Environment module in year 2, we were able to go on a live site visit to (the NTU design building) which is under construction right now. It was an amazing and exciting opportunity to learn about the different stages of construction in real life.

Does the “real” NTU match what you’d imagined? How does it compare with your friends’ experience at other universities?

NTU matched exactly what I imagined and in some cases even better than what I imagined.

I have a few friends that study the same course as me in different universities and from speaking to them, I realised how lucky I am to be studying at a university that provides all the support and ensures that students have everything they need to thrive.

How would you promote NTU to potential students in 10 words or fewer?

NTU will help you grow and reach your full potential.

Outside of the Lecture Theatre…

Did you find it easy to make friends and settle in at NTU?

NTU has always something to offer, whatever your interests might be. I love learning different languages and  I remember joining the Hispanic society in my first year. It was a great way for me to meet new people and make friends.

The Next Steps…

What’s next for you after NTU?

After my graduation in summer 2024. I will be taking a year out to work as a Part I Architectural Assistant. I would love to come back to NTU and get my master's degree in architecture.

Has the employability team helped you plan for life beyond NTU?

NTU employability not only provided me with the resources I needed but also set up networking events for us with different companies in the built environment, which was an amazing opportunity to make connections with people across the construction industry.

How is NTU helping you to achieve your career goals?

NTU has offered me great opportunities to improve my skills. In my second year, I had the opportunity to become a student mentor and help first-year students settle into university, which meant that I gained some valuable skills along the way some of which include public speaking, presentation, and organisation skills, all essential in my future career as an architect.

Advice...

What top tips would you give anyone thinking about studying your course at NTU?

NTU offers you the tools, opportunities, and support you need to succeed in both architecture as well as your personal growth, make the most of these amazing opportunities, and take part in extracurricular activities.

Remember to pay attention to your surroundings, you are constantly surrounded by architecture. Spend an hour each day to read and draw. Stay curious. Be like a sponge and absorb as much information as you can. You can never know enough!
