Why NTU…
What inspired you to study your subject?
Since I was a kid, I’ve always loved watching movies and found myself fascinated by how they were filmed, edited, and brought to life. As I grew older, this curiosity turned into a real passion for understanding what happens behind the camera. That’s what inspired me to study Media Production a course that allows me to explore every stage of the creative process and develop the skills needed to bring stories to life through film and media.
Why did you choose your course and NTU?
When researching universities, NTU stood out as the best choice for Media Production because of its strong focus on practical learning and hands-on experience. The course offers a range of engaging modules that truly excited me, and the facilities available to Media Production students are unmatched compared to other universities I looked into. I wanted a place where I could learn by doing, and NTU provides exactly that environment.
What’s your experience been like of your course so far? Can you pick out any highlights?
My experience studying Media Production so far has been really exciting and rewarding. I’ve enjoyed learning about different aspects of production, from directing and editing to sound design and lighting. The practical side of the course has been one of my favourite parts, as it allows me to apply what I learn in real projects. One highlight for me was working on a soundscape project and getting the chance to direct and collaborate with my group it was a great experience that helped me improve my leadership and creative skills.
Have you been involved in any projects or extra-curricular activities that have supplemented your studies run through NTU?
I’ve been involved in several activities that have strengthened my creative and practical skills. As President of the Egyptian Society, I’ve organized events that helped me improve my teamwork and event management abilities. I’ve also worked as an Instagram manager, which allowed me to enhance my content creation and social media skills.

What do you think of the support available from tutors and staff at NTU?
The support from tutors and staff at NTU has been excellent. They’re always approachable, understanding, and willing to help whenever I need guidance whether it’s about coursework, projects, or personal development.
Outside of the Lecture Theatre…
Did you find it easy to make friends and settle in at NTU?
Yes, I found it quite easy to settle in and make friends at NTU. Everyone was really welcoming, and there are so many opportunities to meet new people through societies and group projects.
The Next Steps…
What’s next for you after NTU?
After finishing my degree at NTU, I plan to pursue a career in the media industry, focusing on content creation, directing, or social media production. I’m passionate about storytelling and creative communication, so I’d love to work on projects that allow me to bring ideas to life through film and digital media.
How is NTU helping you to achieve your career goals?
NTU is really helping me work towards my career goals because it’s one of the top universities for employability. The course provides plenty of hands-on experience and opportunities to build practical skills that are directly useful in the media industry.

What top tips would you give anyone thinking about studying your course at NTU?
My top tip would be to make the most of all the practical opportunities the course offers get involved in projects, experiment with equipment, and don’t be afraid to try new ideas. Working in teams is a big part of Media Production, so good communication and collaboration are really important.

Why did you want to study in the UK?
I wanted to study in the UK because it’s known for its high-quality education and creative approach to learning, especially in media and the arts. The UK offers great opportunities to gain practical experience and build connections within the industry. I also wanted to experience a new culture, improve my independence, and study in an environment that’s different from where I was raised.
What experiences have you had as an international student at NTU?
My experience as an international student at NTU has been really positive. I’ve felt very welcomed and supported by both staff and students, which made settling in much easier.
What advice would you give to help new international students get settled in at university?
I’d tell new international students to get involved as much as possible join societies, attend events, and don’t be afraid to talk to new people. It’s the best way to make friends and feel part of the community. I’d also suggest making use of all the support NTU offers, like going to the SU, because they really make a difference. Most importantly, stay open-minded and enjoy the experience studying abroad is a great opportunity to grow and learn about yourself.
