More about Paul
Why did you choose Nottingham Business School and your course?
Nottingham Business School has a great reputation and being in my local town, it made perfect sense.
What motivated you to enrol onto the course?
I’ve run my own business since 2017 and have never really trained for it. I wanted to gain a further understanding to enable me to be a better Director with a strong understanding across all areas of running a business.
What have you taken away with you from your experience on your course?
To be honest every module on the course has taught me something. Managing Finance gave me a great understanding of how to read and challenge key financial documents like balance sheets, Strategic Change showed me how to go about changing a business and gave me the correct tools to use, Marketing was great and gave me a really good appreciation for what marketing is and the benefits its can bring. The modules that required group presentations were also really fun and really help to develop confidence.
How has your journey on this course contributed to your career?
To be totally honest my company was doing great before the course, however, I’ve been in a fortunate position where I was able to apply my learning directly to the company, and it's showing benefits already.
What advice would you give to someone applying or looking at studying SLMDA?
Do it – be mindful that it takes time and commitment. I remember the course leader saying that the MBA would take over our lives at the course induction….he was right but so worth it.
