Your Students’ Union

NTU is consistently in the top ten UK universities for the best student experience, and a huge part of that is down to the Nottingham Trent Students' Union (NTSU).

Run by students for students, your Union will help you make the best of your time here.

Welcome to your Students' Union

This is a place to find new friends, make new memories, and start new challenges — this is NTSU.

What does the Students' Union do?

The Union is there to support you during your time at university - whether you're looking for advice, trying to bring likeminded people together by starting a new society, or you're in need of representation to help your voice be heard. These are your people.

As soon as you enrol at NTU, you'll automatically become a member of NTSU. This gives you exclusive access to join societies, sports clubs and communities, to use support services, and to take part in all the events run by the Students' Union.

Join a society

Societies are groups of students who share a common interest and meet up for a variety of activities. These groups are a great way of making friends who share your passions, or for you to try something completely new. There are over 100 to browse and join, from anime and astronomy to LGBT+ pride and politics.

NTU sport

For many students, sport is an integral part of the university experience, and the NTSU work alongside the University to ensure our sports clubs are engaging and inclusive.

With over 60 sports clubs, our gyms and fitness classes, pitches, courts and sport scholarships, NTU Sport have something for all abilities - from professional players to complete beginners and everyone in between.

Each year, NTU students compete against their local rivals from the University of Nottingham in Varsity; a two-week long Olympics-like competition across multiple sports. The Varsity ice hockey match is one of the most attended university games outside of America. Whether you're playing or watching, this is one of the biggest events in the NTU calendar, so don't miss out!

Play for fun

At NTU we believe that playing sport is for everyone. It’s a great way to maintain fitness, support your wellbeing, and ensure that you're living a healthy lifestyle at university. If you join a sport club, you won't be expected to compete if you don't want to. The aim is to get moving, have fun, and make friends along the way.

Facilities

NTSU's buildings feature all the facilities you need to make the most of student life, including fully-licensed union bars and eateries, quiet corners, state-of-the-art exercise equipment, the Union shop where you can grab your NTU hoodie, and so much more. These are your spaces to chill with friends, grab a snack between lectures, hit the gym, and, of course, study!

Each NTSU building has its own unique vibe and activities to explore. Conquer the 30ft climbing wall at City Campus or spend a sunny afternoon on the outdoor terrace at Clifton Campus. Whatever your preference, we've got a place for you.

Information, advice and representation

It's always good to know someone has your back, and they do at NTU. Your Students' Union offers a range of support, from Academic Reps to an independent Information and Advice Service who support all aspects of your university experience.

NTSU is an inclusive, supportive organisation, celebrating diverse membership. We believe that students should feel safe and respected regardless of their gender, race, or sexuality and work hard to realise that goal through consent workshops, hate crime reporting and elected LBGTQ+ representatives.

Whether you're looking for advice on money matters, housing, or mental health, the NTSU trained advisers are on-hand to help.
