Representatives from the Chartered Society of Designers (CSD) attended the celebration evening of the 2018 NTU Art & Design Summer Show to present nine students with awards recognising excellence in their respective areas of design and creativity.

The Chartered Society of Designers (CSD) is the professional body for designers and the authority on professional design practice. It prides itself as being "the internationally recognised body for the design profession, providing support and guidance for designers at every stage of their career 'from learning to earning'"™.

The society is not a trade body or association, and membership is only awarded to individual designers who prove their professional competence as defined by the society's rigorous standards.

Seven courses in the areas of Art and Design at NTU are now accredited by the CSD, making NTU the only university in the UK to have this amount of courses officially accredited by them.

Chris Ramsden, Honorary Treasurer of the CSD, presented the awards and said: "As always, we have been very impressed with the professionalism of the NTU students and you should be very proud of your achievements – you are now members of the CSD global design family and we are here to help you as you start out on your design pathway.”

Barbara Matthews, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Head of College also commented: “During your careers, you will experience many aspects of the design sector and the CSD is an invaluable source of advice and information throughout.”
