The new 12 month programme is open to internal applicants within 10 years of award of their Ph.D. or equivalent experience, and will be tailored to the disciplines of the delegates through an enquiry-based learning approach, supported by an external mentor.

The programme will conclude with a final research showcase where participants will present their work to the Vice-Chancellor and senior research leaders.

Alumni will then contribute to future FRL programmes by sharing their own leadership journey.

Professor Edward Peck, Vice Chancellor said: "In recognition of the importance of research leadership to realising our ambitions, I am pleased to launch the inaugural Vice-Chancellor’s Future Research Leaders Programme to develop the strategic research leadership skills of a selected cohort within the University."

"This prestigious programme will run annually and seek to position this group as leading researchers in the University, and thus as genuine future leaders; and to equip them with the skills and the sense of responsibility to act as champions and inspirations of research in their own research centres, departments and Schools."
