Nottingham Trent University signs Memorandum of Understanding with Hanshin University
Nottingham Trent University (NTU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hanshin University in South Korea.

Cementing the partnership via an online signing, Professor Edward Peck, Vice-Chancellor and President, Nottingham Trent University and Kang Sung-young, President of Hanshin University welcomed the collaboration, which has been developed as a result of both institutions’ expertise and presence in the esports industry.
The relationship will focus on the following elements:
- Joint development of new education provision in the subject of esports
- International guest lectures
- Joint research in esports production and gaming culture
- Opportunities for students to study abroad and learn English/Korean
Commenting on the partnership, Professor Edward Peck, Vice-Chancellor, Nottingham Trent University said:

By combining our joint strengths, we aim to create unparalleled opportunities for our students and academics, promoting cultural exchange and advancing knowledge and opportunity in esports. Together, Nottingham Trent University and Hanshin University will pave the way for a brighter, more interconnected future, enriching the academic experiences of our communities through building the very best international esports education.”
Kang Sung-young, President of Hanshin University commented: “It is a great pleasure to have this partnership with Nottingham Trent University. As both universities, who successfully run game and esports courses, collaborate through various programmes in the future, I am confident we will greatly contribute to future innovation and education. We look forward to an active long-term partnership with NTU.”
To mark the commencement of the relationship, Gin Rai, Esports Curriculum and Business Development Manager for Nottingham Trent University and co-developer of the partnership, will travel to Korea for an International Esports Conference to present on a panel on esports in higher education. This will be coupled with visiting Hanshin University to meet esports convergence staff and students and deliver a guest lecture.
Professor Choi Eunkyoung, Associate Professor and Head of Graduate School of Esports Convergence in Hanshin University, and co-developer of the partnership, will visit NTU in 2025, to share her wealth of knowledge and research in esports with NTU staff and students, alongside visiting the Confetti X esports production facilities.
