Erdos X NTU project

Nottingham School of Art & Design has completed a live industry project with Erdos Cashmere Group, a world leading cashmere enterprise and advocates for connecting and engaging with young audience. Students from MA International Fashion Management and MA Fashion Knitwear worked to a real brief, combining strategy and design, and presented their outcomes to industry. The result was a confident, professional body of work and an outstanding experience for everyone involved.

Representatives from ERDOS Menswear Design, Marketing, and the Group Sustainability Team participated in the final presentations as the industry panel and commented:

“From consumer insights to commercial strategy, from trend analysis to structural design language, these perspectives which still free from established industry conventions offered SHÀN a valuable point of reference beyond internal decision-making frameworks.”

The UK Department for Business and Trade supported the collaboration through the successful delivery of the live project, highlighting it as a strong example of effective UK–China engagement in education. Commenting on the partnership, Sohail Shaikh, Deputy HM Trade Commissioner for China, DBT said: “This collaboration between Nottingham Trent University and Erdos demonstrates how UK–China partnerships can combine academic excellence with industry engagement to deliver real-world outcomes. Projects like this give students the opportunity to work with global brands while developing the professional skills needed for today’s international fashion industries.”

The collaboration gave MA International Fashion Management and MA Fashion Knitwear students direct exposure to commercial expectations. They developed strategic proposals and design concepts, received feedback from industry specialists, and refined ideas against brand and market context. This kind of live experience builds strong portfolios, career confidence, and a clear understanding of how creative thinking delivers impact in the fashion sector.
