Q&A with Abi
What have you enjoyed most about being a Student Mentor?
What I have enjoyed most about being a Student Mentor is getting to know first-year students and being part of their journey!
It’s been incredibly rewarding to support them with things like time management, understanding briefs, being more efficient, settling in socially, and encouraging them to tap into their creativity and strengths.
In what ways has being a Student Mentor helped you?
Being a Student Mentor has allowed me to support others in enhancing their experience at NTU, which has been incredibly fulfilling. It’s given me a meaningful way to care for others - something I’ve always felt strongly about.
As a mature student, the role has also helped me feel more connected to younger students, bridging the gap and creating a sense of shared community and understanding.
How did you find the experience of leading the team?
Leading the team of Student Mentors was one of the most rewarding parts of my experience. It created a real sense of connection and teamwork, allowing us to grow together while building valuable employability skills like collaboration, leadership, and communication."
