Lisa Gadsby: Enterprising Ashfield
Lisa owns prom dress shop, Team Prom, in Sutton-in-Ashfield and has attended a number of the free courses offered by the Enterprising Ashfield project.
Enterprising Ashfield is being delivered by NTU in partnership with Ashfield District Council and is part funded by the Government's Town Fund. The project provides support to enhance business productivity and improve the skills of local residents and employees in the Kirkby-in-Ashfield and Sutton-in-Ashfield areas.

I’m proud of how far my business has come in the last 3 years since starting just before the pandemic, and it can only continue to grow with the help of courses like this.
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your business?
My name is Lisa and I own Team Prom, a prom dress shop in Sutton-in-Ashfield. I have been feeling a bit left behind in the world of social media which was making me feel very old.
How did you find out about the Enterprising Ashfield project and what attracted you to take part?
I saw the courses advertised on Facebook and I have attended the product photography course and the social media and content creation course. The social media one has been fantastic, the course tutor Debbie is so engaging and fun.
I’ve met some other lovely business owners throughout this process and I would like to think we have all helped each other in one way or another whether that’s with business related advice or just been a sounding board for new ideas businesses may have.
Would you recommend this to other people?
I would 100% recommend the courses to other people. I have always said I would never be ‘that person’ that videos myself for Instagram but after a few words of advice, and Debbie showing us on the course and allowing us time to practice I did it and it wasn’t that bad at all. The skills I have picked up on the courses have been invaluable.
